It was a chilly February morning. As I walked to work I marveled at the beautiful sunrise. It was a lovely background to the falling snowflakes hitting the Kansas City Street's. I could feel my toes going numb and I wished nothing more than to cuddle up to a cozy fire and bask in all its warmth. When I arrived at my office I noticed something new sitting on my desk. A beautifully wrapped box with a note tied to it. I recognized the penman-ship immediately. The note read- Dear Delaney, I know how terribly dreadful you can get in this type of weather. I made you something special. Hopefully it not only warms your heart and brightens your day, but reminds you of simpler times. Enjoy! ~ Your Dear Old Friend, Tim Harlan I lifted up the lid of the box to find a thermostat and spoon inside. As I un-screwed the cap the familiar aroma of home hit me. The warmth of the cup on my chilled and frost-bitten fingers defrosted me. Tim had made me a cup of his homemade chicken soup. Not only is this a fabulous tasting dish, but it is close to my heart. When we were kids me and Tim, along with the other neighborhood kids, spent every snow day together. We had snowball fights, sled races, and my personal favorite- Tim made us his Chicken Soup. I wasted no time at all. I dug in as quick as I could! The first bite is always the best. Tim's recipe insures you get a mouthful of flavor and heart in every bite. The creamy broth, the chopped carrots, the cooked peas, the mouthwatering chicken, and the delectable noodles. Everything in the soup works together to create pure bliss! I've tasted many of soups in my profession, but none have come close to the flavor and deliciousness of "Harlan's Chicken Soup". If you're wanting to taste a bit of heaven, I highly recommend trying this recipe out at home. Not only will it fill your tummy up, but your heart as well.
